CSSI Program
Working with Flint families to find cancer sooner.
Life in 3D Health Services is joining the Cancer Stage Shifting Initiative (CSSI) program to help improve cancer detection in Flint, Michigan. NMQFs Community Health Biobank study focuses on communities that have faced long-term health and environmental challenges—like Flint.
Our mission is to break barriers and overcome obstacles to healthcare and wellness. We aim to address social determinants of health by providing access to quality healthcare services, preventative screenings, education, and mentorship. We conduct community informed education, evidence-based research designed to improve health outcomes for underserved, disenfranchised, and inner-city populations.
What is the CSSI program?
CSSI is a community-driven, voluntary health research program.
It helps all of us understand:
- Why cancer is found late
- How to improve screening
- How to connect people to care faster
I’M IN; How can I Participate?
You may join by:
Registry only:
- Answer health questions
- Allow review of parts of your medical record over time
Registry + Biobank:
- All of the above
- Plus a blood sample for research
CSSI program FAQ
- Adults 35 years and older
- Able to give consent
You may:
- Answer questions about your health and life experiences
- Have basic health checks
- Allow review of your health record over time
If you join the biobank:
- Samples such as blood is collected safely by trained staff
- Up to 10 years
- Yearly visits for the first five years
- Later follow-ups may be by phone
- If something important is found, the doctor will contact you
